Read on for the best Black Friday Deals for Cooks.

I’ve analyzed the circulars of most major retailers from the past few years to see what goes on sale.  Then I did the research to see what’s the best items in each category. Below you will find the best Black Friday Deals for cooks.

What is Black Friday?

Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving. This year it will be Friday, November 29, 2019. The first usage of the term dates back to 1961. The thought was that it was because of all of the traffic caused by massive amounts of traffic. The phrase became more widespread as the years went on.  The popular explanation became that this day represented the time in the year when retailers turn a profit, thus going from being “in the red” to being “in the black”. No matter the reason for the name we all know it spells deals for consumers.

What Are Some Typical Black Friday Deals for Cooks?

After reviewing the Black Friday ads from most major retailers (Costco, Target, Kohls, Kmart, Walmart, Sears, just to name a few). There are definite trends to what typically goes on sale. You can expect to find lots of sales on cookware, kitchen gadgets, and food storage with the deepest discounts on the most popular kitchen gadgets. My guess is that you can expect air fryers and Instapots on sale at a lot of retailers due to their popularity.

What Kind of Sales Are There?

Not all deals are equal. It’s important when shopping on Black Friday, or any time of year for that matter, to consider what type of sale it is. Knowing this ahead of time can help to make sure that you get the item in stock and save the maximum amount. Also, take note of if the deal is for online or in-store only. Not all retailers have the same inventory in stores versus online or even the same prices so buyer beware. Here are some typical sales you will see.

Doorbuster s

This sale will last for only a certain time period. Make sure you are at the store or online during the beginning of the time period as they are often low promotional rates set to get you into the store and have limited quantities.

Rebates

Some items have a manufacturer’s rebate that will lower the price. If you aren’t familiar with a rebate, it’s an incentive from the maker of the product to get you to buy it. You pay the retailer the full amount and then the manufacturer will refund some money from your purchase. Now, you need to know that there is paperwork you need to fill out and mail in before you can receive that payment. Sometimes rebates are sent as a Visa or Mastercard gift card. Make sure to read the fine print and be very careful when filling it all out as they will sometimes reject paperwork not completed properly. And hang on to your receipt because oftentimes they ask you to send a copy. Before you purchase an item that has a rebate, it’s best to be honest, if you aren’t going to do the paperwork, you won’t be saving that money.

Coupons

Coupons are from retailers to save money of purchase often via a percentage or a dollar amount off. Be sure to read the fine print to make sure what you are purchasing is included and don’t forget to bring them with you when you shop. Worth noting that Kohl’s traditionally has a 15% off coupon for all purchases on Black Friday.

Our Picks for What to Buy

Ok, so we know what typically goes on sale and what kind of sales there are. Now, what the heck should we buy? First things first the answer is, only what you need. Don’t let low prices fool you. You don’t suddenly need something because it’s on sale. Even though it is so tempting, I know! I love a good sale! But, just like with food shopping, it’s best to have a plan and stick to it. Here are some items we think should be on your list.

  1. Instapot Duo 6 qt. If you are shopping for an Instapot this is the one to buy. It’s the perfect size for a family and has additional features such as a rice cooker and yogurt maker that make it very handy in the kitchen.
  2. Amazon Alexa Echo Dot. This is on our Gift Guide for Cooks. Alexa is invaluable in the kitchen. You can set multiple timers, ask for help adjusting recipes all while listening to your favorite tunes
