You can quickly scale it to serve varying amounts of people; it only requires a few ingredients and takes minutes to make. Have you tried truffle popcorn? It sounds like it is fancy pants, but I assure you it is simple!
I’ve made it time and again. When you eat it, you can’t stop. The best part is that you can easily individually portion it out to accommodate for social distancing. Just because we are staying six feet apart doesn’t mean we can’t have good food.

Why Is This A Good Individual Appetizer For Social Distancing?
Truffle popcorn works because you can quickly scale it to serve as many guests as you are hosting. Place some in small bags so that everyone can have an individual serving.
What Are The Ingredients In Truffle Popcorn?
Truffles
The simple answer is decadent and delicious. But the dictionary defines truffles as “a strong-smelling underground fungus that resembles an irregular, rough-skinned potato, growing chiefly in broadleaved woodland on calcareous soils. It is considered a culinary delicacy”. Truffles add a deep flavor and richness to any dish that immediately has you going back for more.
Popcorn
You will find three basic types of kernels, white, yellow, and mushroom in the grocery store. Yellow is the variety you most likely eat the most. White is similar, but with a more tender texture. Mushroom popcorn creates big and fluffy pieces. Mushroom popcorn is best for heavy coatings like chocolate and caramel. For this individual appetizer for social distancing, we are going to use yellow popcorn.
How to Make Truffle Popcorn
Make the Popcorn
Making popcorns seems so simple, right? I’ve learned that there are many options out there and have tried most of them. I was obsessed with the Whirly Pop. It’s a pan with a metal bar inside that you spin not to allow the popcorn kernels to sit in the oil too long. I’ve made it many times, and the popcorn always turns out great. The only downside is that you are sitting and stirring the pot for what seems like forever. Also, the Whirly Popped popcorn uses oil. For this recipe, I wanted air-popped popcorn since I would be adding truffle oil for flavor later.
Now my new obsession is the Hot Pop. It’s a great air popper that is super simple to use. You put the kernels in the bottom, put the lid on, and press the popcorn button on your microwave. That’s it!
You get a massive bowl of air-popped popcorn with little to no kernels left on the bottom. The Hot Pop is silicone, making it easy to clean and collapsible, which is appreciated by those with limited kitchen space. I’m not alone in my love for the Hot Pop; it has thousands of five-star reviews on Amazon.
How To Get The Truffle Flavor
This Truffle Popcorn gets its flavor from three different sources, White Truffle Oil, Black Truffle Oil, and Truffle salt. Both oils have different tastes, and together they make a great team!
Now, truffle products are expensive, I know! I spent over $30 on the oils and salt, but they are well worth it as Truffle oils are a great complement to many dishes. However, if you don’t want to commit too much, just try the White Truffle Oil. It has a strong garlicky, peppery taste. You can purchase it on Amazon.
Put It Together
After you make the popcorn, put it in a large bowl with a lid, add the oils and salt (if using) and then shake it like crazy to combine. You are done!
